Coated MetalsAluminized
This is cold rolled steel that has been continuous hot-dip coated with aluminum-silicon alloy. All thicknesses of steel receive the same weight of coating. Aluminized steel has the esthetics of aluminum and offers the superior strength and lower cost of steel. Common uses include catalytic converters, industrial exhaust systems, fireplaces, and culverts. To see gauges and widths of this product, go to our gauge chart.
Galvalume
This is sheet steel coated with 55% Aluminum-Zinc alloy by the hot-dip process. The name “Galvalume” is a trade name used by various mills. It is also commonly referred to as Zincalume, AluZinc, Algalume, or Algalume Plus. Common uses include roofing, cladding, and flashing. Satin Coat
Also known as Galvanealed material, satin coat steel is galvanized at the mill and then various coatings are applied to convert the galvanizing to zinc-iron alloys. This steel is dull gray in appearance, has no spangle, and is well suited to painting. Common uses include the manufacture of fireplaces, trailers, signs, and housings. Galvanized
Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where corrosion resistance is required and can be identified by a crystallization patterning on the surface known as “spangle”. The sheet steel is passed through a molten zinc bath, emerging with a thin layer of zinc on either side. Upon cooling, zinc becomes extremely hard and protects the steel from corrosion. Common uses include ventilation ducts, cladding, and steel building studs. All galvanized steel carried by Cascadia Metals is ASTM A653 grade with a G90 coat. Cold Roll
Cold rolled material is low-carbon grade steel that provides superior formability, paintability, weldability, thickness tolerance, and surface appearance to hot rolled steel. We carry primarily CS Type B, or a grade known as Commercial Steel, which is free of rust or scale and may be bent on itself without fracturing. Cold rolled steel is manufactured with a matte finish which helps to maintain the steel’s uniform lubrication during storage, transit, and forming. Common uses include the manufacture of electrical boxes, retail display units, fireplaces, and signs. To see gauges and widths of this product, go to our gauge chart.
Hot Roll
Hot rolled steel, like cold rolled, is low-carbon grade steel but is processed differently at the mill. During the rolling process, the material is kept at temperatures high enough to prevent recrystalization, which takes place at lower temperatures in material such as cold rolled steel. This means that hot rolled steel is shaped into sheet in very few rolling cycles without its mechanical properties being altered. Common uses include the manufacture of trailers, industrial roll-off bins, liquid storage tanks, and fireplaces. To see gauges and widths of this product, go to our gauge chart.
Copper
Available in 20-ounce and 16-ounce thicknesses, copper sheet is becoming an increasingly desirable material for high-end roofing, gutter, and commercial kitchen applications. To see gauges and widths of this product, go to our gauge chart.
