Pre-Painted Steel Overview

SMP pre-painted steel is a high quality painted steel product with many uses in the building trades, has a life expectancy of 30+ years, and is available with our in-house warranty.

Kynar*, or Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) pre-painted 55% Al-Zn Steel, is available in over 22 different colors. This material is the highest quality painted steel product currently on the market and has found many uses in the building trades.

Printed steel (shown at left) is the latest addition to Cascadia Metals' selection of products. Using ink instead of paint, the mill rolls digital patterns onto the steel. Many different prints, in wood grain, brick, shingle, cobblestone, and marble form, are available.

See the Pre-Painted Steel section for more information. For colors, see our color chart page or request a printed color chart. We also mail out business-card size steel samples, which you can request here.

Coated, Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Overview

Aluminized
This is cold rolled steel that has been continuous hot-dip coated with aluminum-silicon alloy.

Galvalume
This is sheet steel coated with 55% Aluminum-Zinc alloy by the hot-dip process. Common uses include roofing, cladding, and flashing.

Satin Coat

This steel is dull gray in appearance, has no spangle, and is well suited to painting. Common uses include the manufacture of fireplaces, trailers, signs, and housings.

Galvanized
Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where corrosion resistance is required. Common uses include ventilation ducts, cladding, and steel building studs.

Cold Roll
Cold rolled material is low-carbon grade steel that provides superior formability, paintability, weldability, thickness tolerance, and surface appearance to hot rolled steel. Common uses include the manufacture of electrical boxes, retail display units, fireplaces, and signs.

Hot Roll

Hot rolled steel, like cold rolled, is low-carbon grade steel but is processed differently at the mill. Common uses include the manufacture of trailers, industrial roll-off bins, liquid storage tanks, and fireplaces.

Copper
Copper sheet is becoming an increasingly desirable material for high-end roofing, gutter, and commercial kitchen applications.
